A few weeks ago I photographed my little sister and her friends before their school ball. Every single one of them looked gorgeou, and I think they had the coolest ride in town!!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas filled with laughter, joy and family!

2011 has been a big year for me and my photography as well as the birth of our newest baby! I’d like to take this time to wish all of you a very happy new year. May 2012 be full of acheiving your hopes and dreams :)

Rain and Shine {Perth Family Photography}

We risked the afternoon “thunderstorm” forecast for this shoot and had a great clear period of blue sky and lovely sunlight. Right up until the very end when it started pouring down just as I took the last shot!

I love this photo, this was the very last frame of the day and you can see the rain starting. We quickly ran for cover after this shot as we got drenched.

This was a big family shoot with the kids and grandkids. Little Isaiah wasn’t into having his picture taken at the start but once he saw his cousins getting their photos he wanted more and more photos. Too cute! Hope you all enjoy your sneak peek!

What to wear {Blee Photography}

My first suggestion is pick 1-3 staple colours and stick with them. Whether you do varying shades and tones of that colour is up to you but keep these two throughout everyone’s outfit and it will co-ordinate and “go together”. That said, do avoid matchy-matchy, in other words please dont all wear jeans and the same shirt or all dress head to toe in the same tone of blue. Aim for texture and pattern, it is much more visually appealing and works grea tin both colour and black and white photographs!

Here are some examples of my own clients wearing great co-ordinating outfits.

I love this family’s attire; they’re not all wearing the exact same cut of jeans and they are wearing varying shades of pink, white and grey. It just works.

I just love these kids outfits. Their clever mum made them herself in red, white and blue.

This is my son and his two cousins. I like that the brothers are wearing like clothes with white shirts and blue jeans and my son is wearing white jeans with a blue shirt but still ties in with their clothing. The shoes were a fluke though, but with Disney Cars obsessed boys it was a given they’d have black and red shoes!

With this family they chose 2 main colours, orange and grey and then threw in a lot of pattern. The girls are wearing pretty patterned dresses whilst the boys checker shirts all go well together. I also think the orange really suits their skin tone and makes the photo!

This last family has it so simple. Two different shades of purple and some white shirts and it all goes together!

For family sessions:

Pick 2-3 colours and stick with it. Examples could be “yellow & grey”, “blue, green and white”, “pink, red and white” and so on. The options are endless, but don’t wear too many colours at once. Don’t dress matchy matchy, but dress in like-tones so everyone looks good together, eg: all in different shades of blue. Another option is pick one colour to tie everything together and mix it with black and white. Please don’t all wear the same outfit (all white tees and blue jeans is very outdated). Layers and textures look great, but do dress for the season!

For newborn sessions:

Newborns look best in the nude, or with a nappy cover. There’s just something so magical about babies, their skin is so pure and they are tiny, and clothes just look awkward. If it is cold weather then of course dress your little one up. In summer a cute plain onesie outdoors looks great. Leave the disney characters and big logos at home. Parents of newborns, bring a black singlet or tee shirt. Dads, also expect there may be some shirtless time for you (only if you are comfortable), as skin on skin contact with a newborn is gorgeous in photographs.

For maternity sessions:

Wear a beautiful flowy dress such as a maxi dress to really show off your curves. Or if dresses aren’t your thing try a snug fitting singlet and a long skirt, this allows some belly showing too. A simple pair of maternity pants and a flowy shirt looks great too.

New baby news!

Firstly I wanted to thank all my clients for being so understanding with all the recent things happening in my life and for those clients I’ve had to reschedule and shuffle around. The last couple of months have been really stressful for me with a death of a closed love one in my family, then my own wedding and then the news I was going to have another baby and the bed rest I was put on twice.

After what feels like forever, I can finally announce that all is well with our new addition!

Our little baby is due in November and our son Sebastian couldn’t be more happier to be promoted to big brother!

I will be going on maternity leave from mid October so if you were thinking of a photo session please book it in before then. I will not be doing any sessions in November or December. In January I will take on newborn or maternity sessions only, but will not be taking on any family or other sessions whilst on maternity leave.
